The Chicago Bears have taken significant steps towards a move to Indiana, sparking concern among their fans. WWE NXT champion Tony D’Angelo, originally from Oak Park, Illinois, expressed his frustration over this possible relocation to Hammond, Indiana.
“I don’t know what to say, other than, what the F?” D’Angelo remarked to Fox News Digital. “It’s one of the oldest franchises in the NFL. They’re ‘The Chicago Bears.’ Moving completely out of Illinois is just bonkers to me. The Indiana Bears? That doesn’t sound right,”
he continued.
D’Angelo pointed out that while Arlington Heights isn’t too far from the city and has financial incentives, moving out of Illinois completely seems like a poor decision. Despite his current residence in Florida, he values the history and location of the Bears in Chicago.
The Bears’ executives argue that establishing a “world-class stadium” in Hammond could benefit the region significantly. It would connect Northwest Indiana and the South Side of Chicago through various neighborhoods and suburbs.
Amid his frustrations, D’Angelo remains hopeful about the Chicago Bears’ chances this season. With quarterback Caleb Williams and head coach Ben Johnson, he believes the 2026 season could reveal much about the team’s future.
I think it’s always Super Bowl or bust. The Bears and Caleb Williams have shown their capabilities. Last year, we surprised everybody,”
he said.
He noted that the team had won numerous games in the final moments, demonstrating resilience and heart. D’Angelo praised Williams’ performance, emphasizing his adeptness at adapting to challenging situations despite his age.
Yet, some Bears fans remain skeptical due to past inconsistencies. This season might determine whether the team can establish a reliable foundation.
Besides his interest in football, Tony D’Angelo is set to defend his NXT Championship against Naraku at The Great American Bash on the CW Network.
