The Los Angeles Rams are making strategic decisions ahead of the next NFL season. Despite selecting Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson with the 13th overall pick in the recent NFL Draft, they have chosen to extend the contract of MVP Matthew Stafford for an additional year. Additionally, they’ve made waves by acquiring Myles Garrett, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.
The acquisition of Garrett has sparked discussions about Aaron Donald, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, potentially returning to the field.
“I’ve stayed on AD. I shoot him a little text every now and then trying to get a feel. I would love to see it. It’d be super exciting,” said Andrew Whitworth, a former Rams player.
Whitworth, who played until age 40, expressed his enthusiasm about watching Donald and Garrett possibly team up. He mentioned keeping in touch with Donald to gauge his intentions. “I hope he gets some workouts in,” Whitworth said, expressing his desire to see Donald back on the field, while also hoping he stays safe.
Teaming up Garrett and Donald would be significant for the Rams. Whitworth also shared his excitement about the addition of Garrett to the team. He recounted his interactions with Garrett, who has trained at Whitworth’s gym.
Whitworth commented on Garrett’s experience in the Rams organization, describing it as a “one-of-one type place” and emphasizing the unique locker room culture. He believes Garrett will thrive in this environment and contribute significantly to the team’s success.
Besides football, Whitworth is gearing up for the American Century Championship, a celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe. He described the anticipation and nerves associated with participating in the event, which features a mix of athletes and celebrities. “It’s hilarious,” Whitworth remarked about the nervous energy that accompanies the tournament, highlighting how much it means to him and others involved.
