The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health revealed that Curry passed away from coronary artery disease. Additional conditions like a stroke history and kidney cancer were also factors. Curry did not undergo surgery for these health issues.
News of his death was confirmed by Jimmy Franco, his publisher at Grand Central Publishing, who stated, “Yes, it is true and very sad indeed.” The Los Angeles Police Department responded to Curry’s residence for an investigation, but no foul play is suspected.
Tim Curry became a cultural icon with his role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the 1975 film The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The film became a cult classic known for its midnight showings and audience participation. Other memorable roles include Pennywise in It, Wadsworth in Clue, and the concierge in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.
Over his career, Curry received acclaim in theater, film, and television. He earned three Tony Award nominations for his performances in My Favorite Year, Amadeus, and Spamalot. Additionally, he won a Daytime Emmy Award and received a Primetime Emmy nomination.
After a major stroke in 2012 left him using a wheelchair, Curry continued to contribute to the industry through voice acting and later returned to live-action film. His dedication to his craft showcased his resilience and passion for acting.
