White House Requests Resignation of U.S. Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle

Kimberly Guilfoyle has been asked to resign from her position as the U.S. Ambassador to Greece, as confirmed by the White House. This request arises amidst allegations of misconduct involving Guilfoyle and Eric Deters.

Press Secretary’s Statement

During her initial press conference, new White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia addressed the situation. She stated, “We have asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign. She has been a wonderful asset to the team, and we wish her well.”

Guilfoyle, aged 57, served in her role since November 2025. She is known for her past associations, being a former partner of Donald Trump Jr. and ex-wife of Gavin Newsom, the Governor of California.

Allegations and Reactions

Guilfoyle faces backlash following claims reported by The Wall Street Journal. It was alleged that she requested Eric Deters, a longstanding Trump ally, to settle a substantial American Express debt in return for administrative access.

Deters shared a message allegedly from Guilfoyle stating, “Honey please I need you to get this done for me today.”

In response, Guilfoyle’s legal representatives, David Schwartz and Jesse Binnall, refuted the allegations. They claimed the funds were payments for previous services, such as public speaking and consulting. They issued a statement asserting that Deters owed Guilfoyle around $150,000 for these engagements.

“Ambassador Guilfoyle has served, and will continue to serve, with integrity, honor, and distinction. We are evaluating all available legal remedies to collect this debt and any other potential causes of action,” they declared.

Official Responses

Vice President JD Vance addressed the allegations, stating, “These are allegations… let’s actually see what the facts are, let’s see what the truth is. And obviously if there was something bad that happened, then people have to suffer consequences for it.”

Meanwhile, President Trump mentioned to reporters that he is “looking at” the possibility of firing Guilfoyle, expressing dissatisfaction by adding, “we are not happy.”

This story is still developing, and more updates will follow as new details emerge.
