Maitland Ward Reflects on Strained Relationship with ‘Boy Meets World’ Co-Stars

1 month ago 0

Maitland Ward, known for her roles in ‘Boy Meets World’ and ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’, recently addressed the strained relationship with her former co-stars Danielle Fishel, Ryder Strong, and Will Friedle. Over a year has passed since their heated exchange, and Ward expressed feelings of ‘betrayal’ in an interview with Fox News Digital.

In the interview, Ward spoke about the lack of communication between her and her former colleagues, despite offering support to Fishel during her ‘Dancing with the Stars’ participation. ‘We have not spoken at all. There’s been no contact, except when I offered my support,’ Ward said. ‘There’s been no ill will either. We are not connected right now, and it’s sad.’

Ward recently appeared on Investigation Discovery’s ‘Hollywood Demons’ where she discussed the dark truths behind child stardom.

The rift became public during an episode of the ‘Pod Meets World’ podcast, where emotions flared. Fishel questioned Ward if she held any resentment against them. Ward responded, ‘No, I do not hate you. I think that you hate me because you wouldn’t speak to me on ‘Girl Meets World,’ and that was hurtful.’

Tensions further escalated when Ward commented, ‘You had an attitude about it. There was some beef between us, and I didn’t get it.’ Fishel acknowledged difficulties on the ‘Girl Meets World’ set, citing feelings of ostracization and criticism during its production.

The podcast exchange grew heated, with Ward asserting, ‘Let’s be honest about this. You’re trying to go at me now to get the ratings because you know that people will be interested. I wanted to remember the good times.’ Fishel countered, suggesting Ward sought publicity through conflict.

Despite the fallout, Ward maintains no ill will, explaining, ‘I felt [bullied] because it was three against one, really four because [Fishel’s] husband is the producer. I felt surrounded.’ She emphasized that the situation felt toxic, comparing it to high school drama.

Ward recollects feeling targeted for press purposes, countering Fishel’s claims that Ward engaged in conflict for attention. ‘I wasn’t going to benefit financially from that show,’ Ward stated. ‘I think she’s very two-faced in that situation. I get attention for other things that I do too.’

While interactions with her co-stars have been minimal, Ward publicly supported Fishel during her ‘DWTS’ tenure, expressing genuine support. ‘It was a genuine moment,’ Ward remarked, highlighting her encouragement as heartfelt.

Reflecting on the year, Ward elaborated, ‘We had a lot of conflict last year, of course, but I still support her in anything that she does.’ She emphasized the enduring bond they share, likening it to family ties. ‘We are always going to be connected in this way,’ Ward said, highlighting the importance of mutual support, especially among women.
