DOJ Investigates Voter Fraud in Michigan and Maryland Ballot Mix-Up

1 month ago 0

The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating voter fraud in Michigan’s Wayne County. Harmeet Dhillon, the U.S. Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, highlighted instances of fraudulent voting. There are concerns about non-compliance with the Help America Vote Act.

In a related matter, a primary ballot error in Maryland has spurred Republican calls for a federal review of the state’s voter rolls. During the weekend, some of the 400,000 primary voters requesting mail-in ballots received the wrong party’s ballot. This issue led to the Maryland Freedom Caucus demanding a federal audit of Maryland’s voter rolls.

The caucus stated, “The Maryland Freedom Caucus is calling on Jared DeMarinis, Secretary of the Election Board, to release the voter rolls for a federal audit to identify the source of the error.” The group expressed concerns about the state’s plan to differentiate between the initial and reprinted ballots. They stressed the importance of ensuring each vote counts accurately.

Critics argued the error undermines trust in the primary election process, accusing Democrats and the State Board of Elections of voter suppression tactics. “Maryland Democrats and the Board of Elections have consistently engaged in practices that weaken voter confidence,” the caucus claimed.

Maryland’s elections administrator, Jared DeMarinis, confirmed efforts to address the situation. “We are working diligently to maintain the integrity and accuracy of mail-in voting,” he stated. “Our office remains transparent and responsive as we resolve the ballot issue.”

TPVI, the vendor responsible for the mistake, apologized publicly. They assured voters of safeguards to prevent duplicate voting, stressing that only corrected ballots from the replacement mailing will be counted. The company has instructed voters to discard the initial ballots received before May 14. Voters using web-delivered ballots were not affected.

Maryland Republicans, including the Republican National Committee, have been scrutinizing the state’s voter integrity. The RNC filed a lawsuit in December, arguing the state failed to maintain accurate voter rolls. Allegedly, registration figures in certain counties exceed adult citizen populations, clashing with federal requirements for list maintenance.

The RNC emphasized that every voter deserves confidence in the election process. They urged the State Board of Elections to ensure accurate voter rolls. Similar actions have been taken in Hawaii and New Jersey, demonstrating nationwide efforts to address these concerns. Fox News reached out to the RNC’s election integrity unit for further comment.
