A significant accident occurred at a Spanish theme park on Saturday, leading to panic and confusion. A Batman-themed roller coaster ride resulted in a visitor sustaining fractures in both legs.
The incident took place on the Batman Gotham City Escape roller coaster at Parque Warner Madrid. The park confirmed the event in a post on social media. According to local emergency officials, the 49-year-old suffered an open fracture in his left leg and a closed fracture in his right leg.
The Batman Gotham City Escape ride debuted in 2023 as Spain’s first multi-launch roller coaster. It includes three rapid launches and four inversions that temporarily turn riders upside down. Following the incident, park officials immediately halted the ride and activated emergency procedures.
Emergency medical services promptly attended to the injured individual. The rider was subsequently airlifted to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Park attendee Juan José Molina reported that the incident caused distress among visitors. Many were seen crying and experiencing anxiety.
The roller coaster will remain closed pending a thorough review of the incident by park management in collaboration with authorities.
