A recent report from Switzerland reveals that Alain Prost, a four-time Formula 1 champion, suffered injuries following a robbery at his residence. The incident occurred in Nyon, approximately 25km north of Geneva, as reported by Swiss outlet Blick.
Authorities have not officially named the victims, but confirmed a family was targeted in the robbery at around 8:30 a.m. local time on Tuesday. In a statement, police described, “Several masked individuals entered the house. Once inside, they threatened the occupants and slightly injured one family member in the head, under circumstances that are still being investigated.” The statement continued, “The perpetrators then forced another family member to open a safe before fleeing.”
Both Swiss and French police are collaborating to apprehend those responsible.
Regarded as one of the greatest drivers in Formula 1 history, Prost competed from 1980 to 1993 with teams such as McLaren, Renault, Ferrari, and Williams. He won the World Drivers’ Championships in 1985, 1986, 1989, and 1993. Prost shares his four-title record with Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen, with only Juan Manuel Fangio, Lewis Hamilton, and Michael Schumacher holding more championships.
Many recall Prost’s career pinnacle during his time at McLaren, especially his fierce championship contests with teammate Ayrton Senna in the late 1980s.
After retiring, Prost transitioned to television and managed his own team, Prost Grand Prix. He also served as an advisor for the Alpine Formula 1 team until 2022.
