An executive from the Arizona Cardinals faces an indefinite suspension for breaching the NFL’s gambling policy. Ryan Gold, the director of college scouting for the Cardinals, received the suspension as stated on Friday.
The breach involved Gold distributing confidential inside information regarding the Cardinals’ draft picks for the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. The league’s investigation, reported by the Associated Press, did not reveal to whom this information was disclosed.
Further findings from the investigation showed Gold placed parlay bets on both NFL and college games. The NFL emphasized the seriousness of such violations, despite no impact on the integrity of NFL games being observed. The league reiterated its annually reviewed gambling policy, underscoring the prohibition of all forms of sports gambling and sharing of non-public information by any NFL personnel.
The league stated, “The Gambling Policy, which is annually reviewed with all NFL personnel, strictly prohibits anyone in the NFL from participating in or facilitating any form of sports gambling, and from providing third parties non-public information. Although there is no reason to believe the integrity of any NFL game was affected, the League takes any violation of the Gambling Policy with the utmost seriousness.”
The Cardinals acknowledged the findings and expressed their support for the league’s decision. They confirmed that the investigation involved only Gold, and stated their ongoing focus on preparing for the 2026 season.
Since joining the team 13 seasons ago, Gold advanced to his current role in June 2025. Before his promotion, he held positions as assistant director of college scouting and college scouting coordinator. In describing his responsibilities, the team highlighted his role in overseeing operations, evaluating draft-eligible prospects, and organizing pre-draft events.
Despite this development, the Cardinals press forward with training camp preparations and their long-term objectives for future seasons.
