Aurora’s Annual Fourth of July Parade Celebrates America’s 250th Anniversary

In Aurora, the Fourth of July parade is a tradition for many families. Stacy Lorenz, a local resident, emphasizes the importance of the event. “We have been here for nearly the past 10 years. It’s not the Fourth of July if we don’t come,” she explained. For the Lorenz family, the parade is about celebrating independence, freedom, and community.

On Saturday morning, thousands of residents gathered to watch the parade unfold at 10 a.m. The event included dozens of floats and groups, attracting a diverse audience. This year’s grand marshal was Juanita Wells, a longtime community leader who has lived in Aurora since 1972. Jon Zaghloul, Aurora’s communications director, highlighted the parade’s significance in marking America’s 250th anniversary.

Participants of the parade included the Knights of Columbus and high school bands, which are particularly favored by Stacy Lorenz. Her son, Brody, enjoys the candy handed out during the event. Scott Lorenz appreciates the family atmosphere and the reminder of freedom and those who have served the country. He noted, “Aurora does a nice job of organizing this, and we look forward to attending it every year. It’s great for the kids.” The day’s festivities included hopes for swimming and fireworks.

Courtney Caccitolo, another Aurora resident, attended the parade with her daughter. She shared a similar sentiment, mentioning that attending the parade is essential for showing support for America. “We’ve been here at least the past five years and it’s a must-do,” she stated.
