The search for Jasmine Gill took a tragic turn when authorities in El Dorado County discovered burned and buried remains identified as hers. Gurinder Gill, her husband, now faces murder charges. Jasmine was a 30-year-old nurse and mother to their 8-month-old child.
Investigation and Charges
Authorities charged Gurinder Gill, 28, with murder following the discovery of his wife’s remains. Initially, Gill claimed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents had detained Jasmine when she went to collect mail at their Sacramento home. Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office detectives found inconsistencies in his statements during the investigation.
Disputed Missing Person Report
“Detectives contacted ICE, which confirmed that no enforcement activity had occurred at the residence,” Sgt. Edward Igoe of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office stated.
While the couple was undergoing a divorce and a child custody dispute, Jasmine Gill was last seen on September 30. Her cousin reported her missing on October 4.
Discovery of Jasmine Gill’s Remains
On October 1, investigators uncovered burned remains approximately 70 miles from the couple’s residence. The remains were verified as Jasmine Gill’s by Sacramento County authorities. On October 14, deputies arrested her husband and executed search warrants at his associated properties. Gurinder Gill is not eligible for bail.
Community Support and Campaign
A GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist Jasmine Gill’s family in returning her remains to India and supporting her child. As of now, supporters have raised over $21,000. The campaign describes Jasmine Gill as striving for a better future for herself and her baby. Tragically, she was killed before she could achieve her goals, leaving behind the child she was determined to protect.
