Guojun Xuan and Silvia Zhang, residents of California, face accusations of falsely recruiting surrogates and subsequently subjecting the children to an abusive environment. Their alleged actions came to light recently.
On October 6, 2026, the couple appeared for their arraignment at a court in Pasadena, California. The appearance attracted considerable attention, partly captured by photos from David Butow, representing Los Angeles Times and Getty Images.
Authorities have revealed that Xuan and Zhang had installed a network of 32 cameras throughout their mansion located in the Los Angeles area. This setup supposedly allowed them to monitor surrogate-born children closely through a live CCTV feed. Disturbingly, nannies were reportedly seen inflicting harsh punishments on the children, which were overseen by the couple.
