Sally Field paid tribute to Dolly Parton during the 2026 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. She described Parton as an angel on earth, expressing deep sorrow over her passing. Dolly Parton died on August 25 at the age of 80 after a brief battle with cancer, according to her representatives.

Field and Parton had worked together in the movie “Steel Magnolias.” Field recalled her admiration for Parton, highlighting her genuine and humble nature, as well as her sense of humor. Field emphasized Parton’s contributions as both an artist and a humanitarian who significantly impacted many lives in Tennessee and beyond.

“God bless you, Dolly Parton, my friend. I will love you forever,” Field concluded.

Reba McEntire honored Parton with a performance of her 1983 hit song, “Appalachian Memories,” donning a sparkling white gown.

At the event, Jamie Lee Curtis also commemorated the late director Rob Reiner. Reiner, who passed away in December, was remembered for his kindness and humor. Curtis shared that Reiner had left a lasting legacy, including a posthumous Emmy for his role in “The Bear.” Reiner’s enduring record of 48 years between acting Emmys surpassed that of his father, Carl Reiner.

Curtis remembered Reiner as a cherished friend, engaging the audience with personal reflections on his life and achievements.

Additionally, Macaulay Culkin joined Dan Levy and Annie Murphy to remember Catherine O’Hara, who died in January at age 71 after a brief illness. Culkin, who shared the screen with O’Hara in “Home Alone,” described her as warm and encouraging, urging the audience to “call your mother tonight.”
