Francesca Hong’s Controversial Policies in Wisconsin Gubernatorial Race

Francesca Hong, a candidate in the Wisconsin gubernatorial race, has drawn attention for her progressive views. As a democratic socialist, she takes a firm stance on economic issues, which positions her further left than many of her peers.

Hong has faced scrutiny for her past comments about the police. She previously described the police as a ‘white supremacist institution’ and advocated for dismantling them. Recently, she has indicated a shift in her position, stating a preference not to abolish the police.

Additionally, Hong’s thoughts on holidays have sparked controversy. According to her past social media posts, she expressed disdain for Thanksgiving, considering it a ‘painful time’ for some people. This viewpoint raises questions about why the holiday, known for celebrating early American history and friendships, might be perceived negatively.

Not limited to Thanksgiving, Hong has also criticized several other holidays, including Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, the Fourth of July, Halloween, and Christmas. Her criticism extends to these celebrations, often addressing societal implications.

Despite or perhaps due to her outspoken views, Hong is leading the Democratic primary race for governor. Her campaign could significantly influence Wisconsin’s political dynamics.
