Harrison Bader’s Season Ends After Scooter Accident

Harrison Bader, an outfielder for the San Francisco Giants, finds himself in a challenging situation after a scooter accident. The mishap not only sidelined him for the rest of the season but also impacted his income. Giants’ president of baseball operations, Buster Posey, disclosed that Bader’s salary is on hold while the team investigates the incident.

According to MLB.com, Posey stated, “Over the weekend, Harrison Bader was involved in an accident that has delayed Harrison’s prior treatment timeline for plantar fasciitis and, unfortunately, his return to the field.” The team announced that Bader’s pay is suspended until he can resume activities for the club.

Bader, who joined the Giants with a two-year, $20.5 million contract, suffered an injury that compounded his previous ailment. He had been absent since May 29 due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot, and the scooter crash ensured his absence for the remaining 2026 season.

“We are still investigating the circumstances of the accident but will be suspending payment to Harrison until he is able to resume performing services for the Club.”

The accident happened at around 2 a.m. on a Sunday when Bader’s scooter collided with a San Francisco Fire Department truck. The truck’s wheel rolled over his foot, as reported by SFist.

This incident wasn’t Bader’s first with a scooter. In 2014, while with Florida, he was involved in a similar crash into a parked truck, leading to a 19-game suspension.

Bader, renowned for his skillful center field defense, is in his 10th Major League Baseball season. After starting his career with the St. Louis Cardinals, he went on to play for the New York Yankees and several other teams before joining the Giants.

The Gold Glove recipient has a career batting average of .244, with 93 home runs and 336 RBIs. In 39 games with the Giants this season, he managed a .170 batting average and five home runs.
