Ilhan Omar and Federal Investigation Involving Her Family

1 hour ago 0

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., has been out of public view since her Washington, D.C. home was raided by federal agents. Recent sightings reported by Fox News Digital included her daughters visiting the home.

Isra Hirsi, one of Omar’s daughters, was seen arriving at the home carrying a bag over the weekend. She entered the house that Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents had searched a week before. A young girl, believed to be Omar’s second daughter, also visited with a caretaker.

“What’s your problem?” Isra Hirsi remarked to Fox News Digital.

Ilhan Omar’s husband, Tim Mynett, has intermittently appeared outside the home with their dog, Teddy. Mynett expressed no concerns about the ongoing investigation, dismissing rumors that Omar fled the country as “annoying” to neighbors.

Omar and her husband, Ahmed Hirsi, share three children. Omar was previously married to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, believed to be her brother. She married Mynett in 2020.

Isra Hirsi, a Barnard College graduate, gained attention following her arrest and suspension related to an anti-Israel protest at Columbia University in 2024. She co-founded the U.S. Climate Strike, demanding green energy policies among other issues.

Omar’s sister, Sahra Noor, missed a Minnesota book tour event due to a “family emergency.” Noor voluntarily spoke with federal investigators, according to Fox News Digital.

The raid on Omar’s home conducted by the HSI was reportedly linked to an immigration fraud investigation. The probe focuses on allegations of falsified information in citizenship paperwork. Sources informed that several people, including Omar’s relatives, were subpoenaed.

Omar responded to the raid on social media, criticizing the operation as an abuse of power orchestrated by Donald Trump’s administration. She denied any wrongdoing and condemned the targeting of political adversaries by federal law enforcement.

In response, Vice President JD Vance assured the investigation is driven by legal facts and not politically motivated.

Fox News Digital reporter Peter D’Abrosca covered the story.
