Jordyn Tyson Faces Early Setback in NFL Career Due to Injury

Jordyn Tyson, a new addition to the New Orleans Saints, is confronting an early obstacle in his NFL journey. The 22-year-old receiver sustained a hamstring injury during training camp. This incident is expected to sideline him for up to two months based on reports from the NFL Network.

The Saints selected Tyson as the eighth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. He suffered the injury during a joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars last Thursday. This setback poses a significant challenge at the outset of his professional career.

Head coach Kellen Moore, now in his second season with the Saints, commented on Tyson’s situation. He indicated that Tyson might miss the start of the season. According to current timelines, he could potentially miss five games.

If Tyson follows the projected timeline for recovery, a return might coincide with the Saints’ Week 6 game against the New York Giants. The Saints plan to travel overseas soon after for a game in Paris, part of the NFL’s International Games.

Although Tyson experienced hamstring issues at Arizona State, Moore dismissed comparisons to past injuries. He explained, “My understanding is this injury involved slipping and getting pushed from behind, unrelated to his history.”

Before his injury, Tyson practiced daily and was adapting well to his new team. Moore praised his performance, acknowledging that these hurdles are common during preseason and training camps.

The Saints have invested in strengthening their offense, aiming to build on last season’s success, especially after naming Tyler Shough as the starting quarterback. Tyson was instrumental in boosting his prospects after his impressive 2024 season performance. However, he only managed nine games in 2025 due to similar issues, recording 711 yards and eight touchdowns.
