Knicks’ White House Visit Confirmed, Seahawks’ Invite Pending

2 weeks ago 0

The New York Knicks have accepted an invitation to visit the White House in celebration of their NBA championship. This was confirmed by team owner James Dolan on Wednesday. They still need to finalize specifics such as the date and who will attend.

Dolan announced on WFAN New York’s “The Carton Show” that the invitation was accepted. He expressed pride in taking the team to the White House. Dolan mentioned his personal connection to the president, having known him for 30 years.

President Donald Trump attended the Knicks’ game against the San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden, which was their only loss in the series. The Knicks ultimately won the NBA Championship Series 4-1.

While the White House is arranging the Knicks’ visit, the Seattle Seahawks’ potential visit is still uncertain. Despite their Super Bowl win on February 8, the celebration at the White House has not been confirmed.

The White House press office said, “We don’t have anything to share at this time.”

The Philadelphia Eagles were the last NFL team to visit the White House, marking their Super Bowl LIX victory on April 28, 2025. That took place during their offseason, unlike the Seahawks whose offseason is already over. With the end of mandatory minicamp on June 11, players and staff are now dispersed.

The upcoming training camp at the end of July is the next time the team will congregate, making a White House visit challenging. Logistically, getting the team together in Washington, D.C. now would be impractical.

If the scenario persists, the Seahawks might miss out on a White House visit entirely. There are questions about whether the White House reached out with an invitation. Similar confusion occurred with the Eagles in 2018.

The only feasible plan for a Seahawks visit could involve scheduling during the NFL regular season. Seattle plays the Washington Commanders on September 27. The team could travel to Washington a day early for a visit.

However, NFL coaches typically do not favor altering their travel schedules. Away games are generally treated as business trips, leaving little room for deviations, even for a White House visit.
