Late Night Comedians Mock Trump’s UFC Coin

3 weeks ago 0

President Trump is launching gold commemorative coins to mark the U.F.C. “Freedom 250” fight on the White House’s South Lawn, coinciding with his 80th birthday. These coins, designed by Trump himself, feature his likeness and are priced as high as $12,000.

On the recent episode of “The Daily Show,” Desi Lydic expressed disbelief at the high price tag. She joked, “$12,000? For a coin? Does it come with a used Honda Civic?” Her skepticism continued as she questioned the choice of a coin to commemorate a U.F.C. fight, suggesting, “Seems like the kind of thing you commemorate with a tramp stamp.” Lydic humorously mocked the mismatch between the coin and U.F.C.’s image, mimicking a U.F.C. enthusiast cherishing “sweet memories with decorative coinage.”

Lydic also commented on Trump’s reputation for financial exploits, saying, “This is classic Donald Trump. No amount of money is too small for him to try to grift someone out of.” She referenced Trump’s past involving in large-scale financial ventures like global crypto schemes.

Additionally, Jimmy Kimmel praised Trump’s unique ability to sell items of limited practical use to his supporters, remarking, “It takes a special kind of con man to sell your supporters money they cannot spend any place.”
