Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, a Republican from South Carolina, engaged with reporters following the endorsement she received from Gov. Henry McMaster, also a Republican, for the 2026 GOP gubernatorial primary. This event took place on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Both Evette and Attorney General Alan Wilson are competing in the Republican runoff set for Tuesday to determine who will succeed Gov. McMaster. Alan Wilson managed to secure a late endorsement from the President, who had previously endorsed Evette before the state’s June 9 primary. Gov. McMaster continues to support Evette.
Former President Trump expressed his support for both candidates on social media, stating, “I can’t hurt one of them by only endorsing the other, so therefore, I am going to endorse, for Governor of South Carolina, both Pam Evette and Alan Wilson! It’s a wealth of riches – with either one you can’t go wrong.”
The winner of Tuesday’s election will compete against state Rep. Jermaine Johnson, a Democrat, in November. Polls are scheduled to close at 7 p.m. EDT, and live results will be provided by Decision Desk HQ.
