Michele Tafoya on Her Senate Candidacy and Opposition to Socialism

In Edina, Minnesota, GOP Senate nominee Michele Tafoya is addressing voters concerned about the ongoing influence of socialism in the Democratic Party. Tafoya’s message is aimed at individuals embracing ‘common sense’ policies amidst the political landscape.

Tafoya, emphasizing her commitment to opposing socialist movements, stated, ‘We do not want to see a socialist shift anywhere in this country, particularly in Minnesota. I will oppose this trend toward Democratic socialism.’ Her remarks followed her visit to a Minneapolis suburb where she cast her vote. ‘Socialism does not work,’ she declared.

Addressing Fox News Digital, Tafoya highlighted her inclusive approach, stating, ‘There’s a place for every voter in Minnesota who wants common sense and sanity. We aim to provide a candidacy for those desiring accountability, improved education, and lower crime rates.’ She stressed that her campaign represents more than conservative interests.

Following her primary victory, Tafoya advanced as the Republican Senate nominee, ready to contest against Minnesota Democratic Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan in November.

Tafoya described Flanagan as emblematic of a shift toward ‘Democratic socialism’ in Minnesota. She reiterated her cross-party collaboration efforts to reach disaffected Democrats, saying, ‘Minnesota is heading in the wrong direction, and many residents are disillusioned. Career politicians under single-party rule have led us here. It’s time for change, appealing to voters from across the political spectrum.’

Tafoya aims to be the first Republican to secure statewide office in Minnesota since 2006. Her opponent, Flanagan, faced critique following a massive fraud scandal that influenced Gov. Tim Walz’s decision not to seek re-election. Flanagan’s policies, including abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), have drawn criticism.

Tafoya expressed her objective to hold political figures accountable and to bring in outsiders with innovative solutions. Her message mirrors Michigan GOP Senate nominee Mike Rogers, who has similarly appealed to Democrats feeling alienated by their party.

Tafoya shared her eagerness to engage with Democrats and independents, saying, ‘With the primary concluded, I’m ready to communicate with disaffected Democrats and independents. I look forward to these interactions and exchanging ideas.’
