France put up a strong challenge, led by Dominique Malonga and Gabby Williams who scored 21 and 20 points respectively. Despite a promising start, France’s offense stalled in the third quarter, making only four field goals, which allowed the U.S. to take a commanding lead.
With this victory, the U.S. has now claimed a total of 12 gold medals across global tournaments. The team’s consistency continues to affirm their place at the top of international basketball. Emerging stars such as Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers, and Angel Reese are expected to maintain this legacy.
