The U.S. military conducted a strike on a boat in the eastern Pacific Ocean accused of drug smuggling, killing three individuals. This marks the fourth attack this week, raising the total death toll to 205. The U.S. Southern Command announced the strike, stating the vessel was involved in narcotics trafficking and linked to a terrorist group. They did not provide evidence to substantiate the claim.
This strike is part of an ongoing effort against boats suspected of drug trafficking in the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean. A video shared by the military on social media shows a small vessel being hit and engulfed in flames.
These military actions began in early September, with other attacks occurring on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. The Trump administration declared an armed conflict with Latin American drug cartels, accusing them of facilitating drug flow into American cities.
The U.S. Southern Command’s statement noted that the recent strike was ordered by Gen. Francis L. Donovan, the top U.S. commander in the region.
