Lucy Milgrim, a 10-year-old from Long Island, is making waves in the fitness community. Recently, she demonstrated impressive strength by dead-lifting a 145-pound barbell, despite weighing only 58 pounds.
Lucy developed her interest in powerlifting two years ago, after watching her parents exercise in their garage gym. With her father, Brett Milgrim, who is both an attorney and a wrestling coach, guiding her training, Lucy quickly excelled in the sport. Her dedication has earned her three American records in powerlifting.
Beyond lifting, Lucy’s athletic talents extend to the wrestling mat, where she competes as well. Her online presence is a testament to her achievements. Managed by her parents, her Instagram and TikTok accounts boast 232,000 followers combined. One video, capturing Lucy dead-lifting 180 pounds at a competition, garnered over 67 million views and 3.7 million likes on Instagram.
Lucy’s story is one of youth and strength coming together to break traditional norms. It challenges the idea of how young athletes engage in fitness and influences others to consider new possibilities in strength training for children.
