Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese delivered an intense overtime match Sunday evening at State Farm Arena. Clark scored 26 points, securing the game with two important free throws late in overtime, and grabbed the decisive rebound, leading the Indiana Fever to victory over the Atlanta Dream, 95-91.

The Fever’s win was a collaborative effort, but Clark and Reese were pivotal during crucial moments. Reese missed a layup at the end of regulation, pushing the game into overtime.

Indiana worked hard for this win. After trailing by eight, conceding 28 points in the third quarter resulting in a 72-64 deficit, it was the Fever’s defense that shone in the decisive moments. They held the Dream to only nine points in the fourth quarter, outscoring them 17-9, forcing the game into overtime.

Atlanta’s fourth-quarter scoring was the lowest this season. The Dream had a chance to win during regular time. Rhyne Howard missed a three-pointer with 5.5 seconds left, but Reese seized the offensive rebound and had a good shot at the basket. Her layup attempt hit off the backboard and rim. Naz Hillmon retrieved the rebound and attempted a last-second shot before overtime, but it missed.

Reese started the overtime scoring with a basket off a teammate’s miss, but Indiana went on to score the next eight points. Kelsey Mitchell extended the Fever’s lead to 93-88 with a layup, continuing her 19-game streak of scoring 20 points or more.

The closing moments were tense. A contentious foul on Clark gave Howard three free throws. After a challenge by Indiana, officials upheld the call. Howard made all three, narrowing Indiana’s lead to 93-91.

Atlanta fouled Clark, who made two free throws, effectively securing the win. Clark rebounded Atlanta’s final miss and strategically threw the ball away to consume the remaining time.

Clark concluded the game with 26 points and nine assists, despite needing 20 shots and committing five turnovers. She delivered under pressure at critical times. Mitchell contributed 20 points. Makayla Timpson provided 20 points on 9-for-13 shooting, including six in overtime. Aliyah Boston added 18 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, five steals, and three blocks. Sophie Cunningham scored a clutch three-point play, giving the Fever a 78-77 lead late in the fourth quarter.

Reese had 15 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists but struggled shooting 5-for-16, with four turnovers and five fouls. Allisha Gray led Atlanta with 32 points, while Howard added 17.

Despite making 25 out of 26 free throws, Atlanta couldn’t clinch the win. Clark and Reese have both experienced significant games before. Sunday’s encounter was marked by early runs, a late defensive stand, a missed buzzer-beater, overtime drama, and Clark’s composure at the free throw line.
