Recently, Ocasio-Cortez commented on a statement by Chi Ossé, a New York City councilman. Ossé’s comment ‘Woke 1 was crazy’ emerged as he explained a past statement regarding the selection process for the next speaker of the City Council. Ocasio-Cortez’s reaction to this was lighthearted, but some see this as dismissive.

“I have a local city councilman who has this saying: ‘Woke 1 was crazy,’” Ocasio-Cortez remarked, referencing a tweet by Chi Ossé.
