Historical Guinness Bottle Found in English Channel Shipwreck

While exploring a shipwreck in the English Channel, a team of divers discovered a glass bottle with an intact seal. The bottle, labeled ‘Guinness Extra Stout, London,’ was among numerous others scattered around the sunken vessel.

This find occurred at the site of the Mindoro shipwreck, which sank in 1864. The intact seal distinguishes this bottle from many others found at the location.

Preservation of the seal suggests a possibility of understanding more about the cargo and trade routes of the time. Guinness, known today as an internationally recognized brand, had already marked its presence by the mid-19th century. Such discoveries shine a light on the historical trade patterns and consumption habits of that era.
