Iranian state media has issued a warning to the United States regarding ongoing military activities as the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches. Nour News, linked with Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, declared that the U.S. faces significant risks due to its recent strikes on Iran.
‘If the USA are betting on controlling oil and lowering gas prices ahead of the World Football Championship, they should understand: simultaneous military pressure and negotiations with Iran — this is a major risk,’ stated the outlet.
The report further suggested that any potential errors might lead to former President Trump becoming emblematic of a regrettable mistake, one that could be remembered with discomfort at each World Cup event. This warning follows the U.S. resumption of attacks on Iranian targets. On Monday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it conducted strikes aimed at missile launch sites and Iranian vessels attempting to lay mines.
Captain Tim Hawkins, a spokesperson for CENTCOM, confirmed the activities, saying, ‘U.S. forces conducted self-defense strikes in southern Iran today to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces. Targets included missile launch sites and Iranian boats attempting to emplace mines.’
This event marks a continuation of tensions between the two nations, with possibly broader implications for international relations and the upcoming global sporting event.
