New Hampshire Angler Breaks Record with Giant Bluefin Tuna

1 hour ago 0

Recently, an angler in New Hampshire set a new state record by catching an enormous bluefin tuna, weighing in at 1,116 pounds. This impressive catch surpassed the previous state record by over 150 pounds and stunned both the fishermen and onlookers.

The adventure began on Saturday, October 3, 2026, when fisherman Brandon McGirl embarked on the ‘Out of Line,’ a charter boat operated by Captain Jamie Savage of Savage Charters NH. Despite rough fishing conditions, the day turned extraordinary as the crew chased the massive tuna for more than a mile before successfully hauling it onboard.

Captain Savage expressed his amazement, stating, “We lifted it out of the water and immediately knew it was much bigger than we anticipated, bigger than anything either of us had seen before.” The sheer size of the fish was evident in photographs, where it appeared to dwarf both men and barely fit in the boat.

According to McGirl, catching a 1,000-pound fish is a dream for longtime tuna fishermen, making this achievement a memorable milestone. The massive bluefin will soon be heading to the market, offering customers the chance to enjoy one of the sea’s finest delicacies.
