Troy Aikman and Joe Buck worked together during Week 5’s “Monday Night Football” game featuring the Buffalo Bills against the Los Angeles Rams. Although the ESPN broadcast appeared normal, there were reports of a pre-game disagreement between the two.
Joe Buck reportedly secured a new six-year extension with ESPN, continuing his role as the voice of “Monday Night Football.” This contract extension allegedly led to tension with Troy Aikman, who has not received an extension offer yet.
According to sports media insider Ryan Glasspiegel from Front Office Sports, Buck addressed the underlying tension before the broadcast. This led to a reported argument with Aikman, which was eventually resolved.
Buck and Aikman hold the record as the longest-serving broadcast duo in NFL history. They transitioned to ESPN in 2022 after spending two decades together as partners at Fox.
They are scheduled to return for the Week 6 “Monday Night Football” game between the Washington Commanders and San Francisco 49ers.
