Kyle Hamilton’s Key Interception Seals Ravens’ Overtime Victory

48 minutes ago 0

Baltimore Ravens standout Kyle Hamilton had a premonition during their overtime clash against the Atlanta Falcons. After the Ravens secured a 30-23 lead, Hamilton spotted Tua Tagovailoa on the field and felt confident about an interception. His excitement and anticipation were notable.

Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey shared this moment on “The Marlon Humphrey Show.” He explained how Hamilton eagerly awaited a pass from Tagovailoa, believing he would secure an interception. This conviction led to Hamilton’s first interception of the season and his sixth career interception.

Tagovailoa replaced quarterback Michael Penix Jr. late in the fourth quarter after Penix suffered a rib injury. Though Penix briefly returned, Tagovailoa led the Falcons during the overtime period where Hamilton intercepted the pass.

“He knew he was going to get a pick,” Humphrey said. “He literally was like, ‘Oh, he better throw me one.’ He was so excited.”

Tagovailoa’s tendency to throw interceptions was a concern last season, with 15 interceptions in 14 starts. Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski has indicated that Penix will likely start in the upcoming game against the Chicago Bears, pushing Tagovailoa back to a backup role.

The Falcons’ offensive struggles without Penix were evident. With Penix and Tagovailoa out at the start of the season, the team managed only 16 points in two games. However, Penix’s return bolstered the offense dramatically. They scored 80 points in games against the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints, the highest in the NFL during that time.
