Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce tied the knot on Friday evening. Swift’s team confirmed the wedding took place in front of a thousand friends and family members at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Actor and comedian Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony.
The famous singer and the future Hall of Fame football player chose not to have a traditional wedding party. Instead, Swift’s brother Austin served as her “man of honor,” while Kelce’s brother, Jason Kelce, was the best man.
The bride and groom wore custom looks by Christian Dior Haute Couture and Christian Louboutin, with Swift sparkling in Cartier jewelry, her team stated.
Among the celebrity guests were Jessica Chastain, the Chicks, Karlie Kloss, Camilla Cabello, Hugh Grant, Ed Sheeran, Jason Sudeikis, Ethan Hawke, Benson Boone, Dakota Johnson, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, Lena Dunham, and the Haim sisters.
The wedding was considered America’s version of a royal affair. Nearly a year earlier, Swift and Kelce announced their engagement through a joint Instagram post. The engagement announcement featured a series of social media images showing Kelce’s backyard transformed into a floral garden. The couple’s followers speculated about their wedding plans, noting they might occur over the July 4 weekend in Madison Square Garden.
Permits to close Manhattan streets and the venue’s reserved schedule fueled the rumors. A source mentioned that the event at MSG consisted of 1,100 guests who signed nondisclosure agreements upon invitation. Multiple artist performances were anticipated during the event.
The couple’s love story began when Kelce attended Swift’s Eras Tour at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, in July 2023. He attempted to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his “number” on it but couldn’t get past security. Swift later expressed that she was impressed by Kelce’s public pursuit.
Afterward, Swift and Kelce frequently supported each other; Swift appeared at Kelce’s games, and Kelce showed up at Swift’s tour events. They were also spotted in New York City and attended the Eastern Conference finals together, cheering for Kelce’s hometown Cleveland Cavaliers.
Swift’s fans, known as “Swifties,” celebrated their wedding online. However, many Swifties stated they would not travel to New York City for a glimpse of the event. Longtime fan Irene Kim, a co-founder of Swifties for Kamala, highlighted that invading Swift’s personal space would be frowned upon by the fandom.
Despite years of media scrutiny regarding Swift’s relationships, she committed to Kelce, marking a new chapter in her personal life.
