The WNBA achieved significant milestones during its 2026 season, highlighted by increased television viewership and attendance. Central to this success were Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, who played a key role in the league’s accomplishments across multiple broadcasting platforms.

Television Ratings Soar with Indiana Fever

Throughout 2026, the Indiana Fever consistently delivered the highest television ratings for WNBA regular-season games. On major networks like ABC, CBS, ESPN, ION, NBC, Peacock, USA Network, and Amazon Prime Video, the Fever’s games drew record audiences.

Every highlighted game from the WNBA’s report involved Clark and Indiana, marking them as the most sought-after team on TV.

For instance, NBC and Peacock broadcasted an Indiana-Chicago game on August 23, attracting 3.31 million viewers, the largest regular-season audience since 1997. ESPN’s Indiana-Atlanta game set a cable television record with 2.6 million viewers on August 16. Additionally, CBS’s broadcast of Indiana-New York on July 18 pulled in 2.58 million viewers.

Impressive Audiences Across Platforms

The Fever helped networks achieve milestones:

  • ABC: Indiana-Chicago on August 8 with 2.56 million viewers.
  • ION: Indiana-Dallas on August 14 with 1.62 million viewers.
  • USA Network: Indiana-Golden State on July 15 with 1.14 million viewers.
  • Prime Video: Indiana-Dallas on August 20 with 1.07 million viewers.

Broader WNBA Viewership Gains

Beyond Indiana, the league reported 51 games averaging over a million viewers, up from 19 last year. Non-Fever games also saw increased interest, with ESPN and ABC broadcasts averaging 984,000 viewers, a 24% rise from the previous year.

Comparatively, before Clark’s entry, WNBA games in 2023 averaged 440,000 viewers on ESPN. Her debut year in 2024 saw an average of 1.2 million viewers, demonstrating her impact on audience growth.

Although Indiana’s season has concluded, the Fever’s contribution remains a pivotal part of WNBA’s broadcasting narrative, reflecting the successful strategy that capitalizes on Clark’s draw to expand the league’s reach and engagement.
