Flight Canceled Due to Unbuckled Toddler

An evening flight from British Columbia to Toronto faced cancellation because a toddler refused to secure their seatbelt, as confirmed by Porter Airlines to Fox News Digital. Flight 444 was scheduled to depart from Victoria International Airport at 10:30 p.m. Before takeoff, a flight attendant observed the child standing in the seat without being buckled.

The airline explained that efforts by accompanying adults and crew were unsuccessful in getting the child buckled. Due to safety concerns, the plane returned to the terminal, and passengers had to disembark. With the airport’s takeoff curfew set at 12:30 a.m., the added time to unload passengers and complete paperwork resulted in the flight’s cancellation, necessitating an overnight stay for travelers.

The passengers were rescheduled for a flight on Friday. Porter Airlines apologized for the inconvenience caused to other passengers. A child safety seat or restraint is mandatory for passengers under two years old on the airline, though the child’s exact age remains unknown.
