Security cameras in a Delaware neighborhood recorded at least two masked men knocking on doors late Friday night. One of these individuals appeared to be holding a rifle, according to police.
The New Castle County Police Department released images showing a man in a tactical-style vest holding what looks like a rifle while approaching the entrance to a home. Another photo captures a different individual wearing a black vest and mask near a different front door.
Police explained that officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Canvasback Drive in Mallard Pointe, New Castle, around 10:50 p.m. after receiving reports of a suspicious person. Residents reported seeing a man in a black hockey-style mask and tactical vest visiting homes with what seemed to be a rifle.
The incident involved a man allegedly knocking on doors before fleeing the scene. Authorities also noticed four men traveling east on Mallard Road—two on bicycles and two walking on foot. Despite efforts by officers and a K-9 unit to search the area, including nearby properties, the suspects were not found.
Police have not yet confirmed if the weapons were actual firearms. However, they suspect the guns in question might be airsoft-style replicas.
Anyone with knowledge about the incident or possessing home security footage from the vicinity is encouraged to call 911 or the police department’s non-emergency phone line at 302-573-2800.
