A tragic plane crash claimed the life of Claude Guillemot, co-founder of the global gaming company Ubisoft, in western France. The accident occurred Friday evening as a Cessna plane attempted to land at La Baule Airport on the Atlantic coast.
Claude Guillemot, who also served as the chief executive officer of Guillemot Corp., was onboard along with another individual. The crash happened in a field near the airport. An official from La Baule Airport confirmed the incident but remained unnamed due to the lack of authorization to speak publicly.
Local media sources reported that both passengers aboard the Cessna lost their lives in the crash. Guillemot, along with his four brothers, founded Ubisoft in 1986. The company is known for blockbuster game franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance, and Rayman, as well as the Tom Clancy series.
Ubisoft issued a statement acknowledging the loss but provided no further details regarding the incident. Claude Guillemot also led the Guillemot Foundation, contributing to various initiatives and causes.
