The Trump administration has achieved a significant milestone in its immigration enforcement efforts, announcing the arrest of over 10,000 suspected gang members since President Donald Trump began his second term. This initiative is part of the administration’s broader campaign to remove violent offenders from U.S. communities.

According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), those apprehended are accused of various crimes, including murder, assault with deadly weapons, drug trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, robbery, and extortion. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin emphasized the role of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in fulfilling the administration’s goal to enhance community safety.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, ICE has arrested more than 10,000 gang members,” said Mullin in a statement. “Many of these gang members were released into our country by Joe Biden. These vicious criminals murdered, assaulted, robbed, and terrorized innocent Americans.”

Mullin credited the Secure America Act for empowering ICE to intensify its efforts in apprehending gang members and criminals across American neighborhoods.

DHS also reported the arrest of Javier Hernandez Rosas, identified as the 10,000th suspected gang member in the campaign. Rosas is alleged to be an MS-13 member and an illegal immigrant from Mexico, with prior convictions for cocaine possession, as well as past arrests for abduction and weapons possession.

The announcement coincides with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reaching a record staffing level, with 21,471 agents, marking the highest in the agency’s 102-year history. The administration has prioritized border security, achieving a reported 87% decline in illegal immigration compared to October 2024 levels.
