Former member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), Jake Altman, shared insights into the organization’s shift towards communism. He warned that similar tactics are being used to push the Democratic Party further left.
Altman stated, “Their organization has been captured.” He expressed concerns about resistance to anti-communism within the DSA, even among its moderate members, describing this as “very dangerous.”
Socialism’s rise within the Democratic Party now threatens the American Dream.
In a discussion on “Saturday in America,” Altman cautioned that the organization is far from “harmless.” He claimed that its members are willing to collaborate with groups like Maoists, Trotskyists, and Leninists, whom he accused of aiming to dismantle American institutions.
He said, “People who want to pull down American institutions are very clear about it. People who have this thrill to violence. This is profoundly troubling at a time when our country is already facing many problems.”
Darializa Avila Chevalier, Claire Valdez, and Brad Lander, associated with democratic socialism, have garnered attention for their support in New York.
Altman recalled moments a decade ago when he questioned the organization’s path during a debate, suspecting that its radical direction was driven by a small faction linked to “Jacobin” magazine.
He shared, “I was debating with Leninists who claimed Bernie Sanders isn’t a socialist, and now we’re hearing that from DSA. They’re not saying Sanders, AOC, are real socialists.” He indicated that extremism and radicalism in DSA are significant, with the executive board dominated by extremist caucuses.
Altman urged Democrats to oppose a “radicalized base” as far-left DSA candidates make gains nationwide. “These people are not operating in good faith,” he remarked. He emphasized that DSA members in the Democratic Party aim to gain power rather than collaborate sincerely.
Fox News Digital contacted the DSA for a response but received no immediate comment.
